byConnie August 29, 2015 Music

The Nite Note reports recent police and fire incidents and is compiled from public records, on-the-scene reporting and interviews. Some significant incidents may not be in the Nite Note but are reported in full elsewhere on the site.

Police charged a woman with robbery and burglary on Friday after they say she tried to stab a man with a dagger and stole nearly $200 from his house.

The victim said he arrived home Thursday to find Jessica Power going through items in his bedroom, according to court documents. When he yelled at her, documents say she began to slash at him with a knife. He then chased her on foot out of the house, where she jumped into a truck.

The victim told a nearby man that he’d been robbed, and the man followed the truck to a Kum & Go at 2904 E. Sunshine St. Officers say they found a black push dagger and $95 when they searched her. The victim said the money stolen was $180 for a juvenile cancer patient.

Officers later found $85 more hidden in Powers undergarments as she was being booked into jail. During an interview, she told police the victim had tried to hire her for sexual favors, so she became angry and stole the money, documents say.

She also told them ran from the house and hid at the Kum & Go because “she didn’t trust the law.”
