After Work Commute
About thirty minutes ago, I was almost home, sitting at the intersection of Glenstone and Bennett. I was on Bennett, in the eastbound lane and we had the red light. I had stopped a couple of car lengths behind the woman in front of me, so I wouldn’t block the entrance to a shopping center. The lady ahead of me was in a maroon van that looked brand new, and a mail truck was in front of her.
The left turn arrow came on for the people beside us, I glanced over, then turned my eyes forward just in time to watch the lady in the van take her foot off the brake and drive right into the mail truck.
I know she hit the gas because the road is level, she didn’t roll. From the sound of the impact and the way the back of the van jumped, she smacked the truck pretty hard.
All I can imagine is that she saw the cars beside her moving, so she decided to move along with them . . . I didn’t stick around for the police to arrive – I had a light to make! I pulled around them and came on home. 😀
