Police say Jamie White stole drills — just drills — from Lowe’s, Grizzly Industrial and Home Depot stores throughout Springfield in order to pay her bills and buy heroin.
Lowe’s filed six police reports between Aug. 5 and Aug. 19 in reference to a woman stealing tools from their Springfield stores. They reported the theft of DeWalt hammer drills and cordless electric drills, by a woman who left in a black Mitsubishi.
Grizzly reported the theft of a DeWalt hammer drill kit on Aug. 12 by a woman driving the same car described by Lowe’s. White was apprehended at Home Depot on Sept. 9 after stealing a Milwaukee cordless drill and impact kit, according to court documents.
Police say the total value of stolen property was $2,826. White told officers she stole the drills to pay her bills, and also to buy heroin. She was charged Thursday with three counts of felony stealing.
A Springfield police report from Friday said officers responded to the Springfield Botanical Gardens for a report of a stolen bell.
A Springfield police report from Friday said a woman in the 400 block of South Avenue wanted to report a man preaching loudly near her apartment.
Springfield police, along with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a DWI checkpoint at the intersection of South Jefferson Avenue and East Harrison Street. Fifteen arrests were made, including eight for DWI and two for possession of drugs.
Police say Jeremy Nickelson stole 14 tires from cars around the Springfield area in late August and early September. Nickelson was charged Thursday with two counts of felony stealing.
Springfield police reports from Friday listed 28 motor vehicle crashes, two reports of domestic assault and one report of DWI.
